CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The University of Wyoming is continuing its efforts to attract and keep more minority efforts.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2qtrssJ ) the university’s Board of Trustees has hired a chief diversity officer. Emily Monago is the director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs at Bowling Green State University.

She will begin her new role July 17.

Reports say that the university has been working on the position for 18 months following student concerns and low numbers in minority students and staff.

Monago’s responsibilities include creating a strategic plan for diversity and establishing and chairing a UW Diversity Council.
