PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say a handful of tombstones were reported knocked over at a Jewish cemetery in northeast Philadelphia.
Police said a groundskeeper at Adath Jeshurun Cemetery in the Frankford neighborhood reported finding five tombstones knocked over in the cemetery shortly after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
But police said in a statement that “other than being knocked over, there is no further damage to the tombstones.” They have classified the case an “unusual incident.”
The Philadelphia Inquirer (https://bit.ly/2rnRXQF ) reported in 2015 that the caretaker reported finding dozens of tombstones knocked over. Earlier this year, scores of headstones were found damaged at the nearby Mount Carmel Cemetery.
