PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say a handful of tombstones were reported knocked over at a Jewish cemetery in northeast Philadelphia.

Police said a groundskeeper at Adath Jeshurun Cemetery in the Frankford neighborhood reported finding five tombstones knocked over in the cemetery shortly after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

But police said in a statement that “other than being knocked over, there is no further damage to the tombstones.” They have classified the case an “unusual incident.”

The Philadelphia Inquirer (https://bit.ly/2rnRXQF ) reported in 2015 that the caretaker reported finding dozens of tombstones knocked over. Earlier this year, scores of headstones were found damaged at the nearby Mount Carmel Cemetery.

This story has been corrected to note that tombstones rather than headstones were reported knocked over and to correct the cemetery name to Adath Jeshurun rather than Adath Jushurun and the dateline to Philadelphia rather than Elkins Park.
