Rep. Jim Himes said Tuesday that the White House’s reaction to a report from The Washington Post follows a pattern of dysfunction.
“This gets to something larger and much more concerning. It’s the same deal as the Comey firing. This stuff happens. The president appears to just go off script with something that can have profound implications and then the White House spends the next couple of days trying to get the story straight,” Mr. Himes, Connecticut Democrat, said on CNN regarding the firing of FBI Director James B. Comey.
Mr. Himes said this report is more disturbing because it involves classified information, but that there is a pattern of the president making “snap decisions” and then leaving his staff to figure out the story over the following days.
“This president is sitting in the Oval Office and making snap decisions that are not based on the advice of his people. Then we see the White House try to work out in the days that follow.”
