Sen. Ben Sasse knocked President Trump on Tuesday for “governing tweetstorm to tweetstorm.”

“Governing tweetstorm to tweetstorm is not a sustainable strategy. And the president has picked a lot of good people,” Mr. Sasse, Nebraska Republican, said on CNN.

“There are a number of really wonderful people, smart people and honorable people in this White House, and they have a really hard job because it just feels like kiddie soccer most days. That people are just following one frenzy to the next frenzy to the next frenzy,” he said.

Mr. Sasse reacted to the series of tweets from the president regarding The Washington Post report that he leaked classified information to Russian officials. Mr. Trump pushed back on those claims in the tweets and said his concern was addressing “leakers” in the intelligence community.

The senator also said that National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster’s statement Monday evening created more questions that he said would be answered in the days ahead.

“H.R. McMaster is a great choice by this president,” Mr. Sasse said on Fox News. “His answer is I think pretty technical, and so there’s a whole bunch of stuff that I think we’ll learn more about over the next couple of days.”

Mr. Sasse also added that, “There’s a lot we don’t know yet.”
