LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Two University of Wyoming offices will shoulder the brunt of the 37 staff employee layoffs starting this week.

A news release from the university on Monday says UW’s Office of Information Technology will lose 15 staffers and the Office of Academic Affairs 12. The Division of Administration will lose five workers, the Division of Student Affairs will lose three and the Office of Governmental and Community Affairs will have one person laid off. One employee at large will also be cut.

The university says it will save more than $3 million a year with the cuts.

Individual campus units are working to absorb the duties currently handled by the workers.

The layoffs are part of the university’s attempts to account for the loss of about $42 million in state funding.
