Jim Parsons, star of CBS’s “Big Bang Theory,” married Todd Spiewak, his boyfriend of nearly 15 years, Saturday in a ceremony at the Rainbow Room in New York City, E! News reported Sunday.

In 2012, Mr. Parsons officially came out of the closet in a rather passing reference in a New York Times. In a 2015, reflecting on that moment, he described the nonchalant way in which he was able to affirm his sexuality as “a gift.”

The reserved Texas native’s wedding ceremony appears to have been equally rather low-key, with effort taken to prevent social media buzz during the ceremony itself.

“What a wedding. Not a cell phone in sight. Everyone was so present which sounds pretentious but it was truly powerful for us all to just want to be there fully,” wrote “Big Bang” co-star Mayim Bialik Monday on Instagram as she re-posted a photo Mr. Parsons shared Monday morning on his Instagram page.

“Big Bang Theory,” which wrapped its 10th season Thursday with a cliffhanger involving the relationship between Mr. Parsons and Ms. Bialik’s characters, will return on CBS in the fall.
