DARDANELLE, Ark. (AP) - The Latest on deaths of a sheriff’s deputy and two others in rural Arkansas (all times local):
2:40 p.m.
Authorities have identified the two people who were killed along with a sheriff’s deputy in rural Arkansas before the suspect was captured.
The state police issued a news release Friday identifying them as 61-year-old Rita Miller and 17-year-old Ciera Miller.
Authorities have charged 42-year-old James Arthur Bowden with killing them and Yell County Sheriff’s Lt. Kevin Mainhart.
Mainhart was responding to a call about a disturbance at a house near Dardanelle, about 65 miles west of Little Rock, when he saw a car linked to that address and stopped it. He was gunned down early Thursday during the traffic stop.
The Millers were found dead in the yard of the home. Bowden was arrested following a standoff with police. His sister, Julie Inmon, told The Associated Press that her brother told her by phone during the standoff that he had killed two of his girlfriend’s relatives.

The sister of a man accused of killing a sheriff’s deputy and two other people in rural Arkansas says she spoke to him by phone while he held a woman hostage during a five-hour standoff with law enforcement.
Julie Inmon told The Associated Press on Friday that her brother, James Arthur Bowden, has a history of mental illness. Doctors and authorities have not confirmed that.
State Police say the 42-year-old Bowden was jailed Thursday in the slayings near Dardanelle, about 65 miles (105 kilometers) west of Little Rock.
Police say Bowden released his hostage about 30 minutes before he surrendered.
Inmon says her brother told her he killed two of his girlfriend’s relatives. Authorities have not identified those people.
Police suspect Bowden fatally also shot Yell County Sheriff’s deputy Lt. Kevin Mainhart during a traffic stop.

Arkansas’ governor has ordered the state flag to be flown at half-staff in memory of a sheriff’s deputy who was killed along with two other people.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson issued a proclamation Friday ordering the honor for Yell County Sheriff’s deputy Lt. Kevin Mainhart.

Authorities say an Arkansas man faces three counts of capital murder in the killing of three people, including a sheriff’s deputy who was fatally shot during a traffic stop.
