Rep. Maxine Waters — and I’m betting at this point, that’s all I have to write, that you already know where the story leads.

If you guessed an impeach Trump theme, you’re quite right.

Here’s the Democrat’s latest, on “All In” on MSNBC, where she gave her two-cents take on President Donald Trump’s firing of James Comey from the FBI.

“The circumstances are such that he’s in the middle of an investigation and he gets fired,” she said of Comey, as Breitbart noted. “And it appears that this president has admitted that he interfered with the investigation by asking him if, in fact, he was under investigation. So I don’t think that’s hypocritical at all. The hypocrisy lies with this president. This man lies every day. He changes his story. He does not even realize that most people don’t believe him anymore.”

Well, let’s just back it up a bit and look at one part of that statement. How exactly does asking if you’re under investigation translate into interfering with an investigation?

Trump to Comey: “Am I under investigation by you?”

Comey: “That’s it! It’s over. This investigation is over. I can’t work in these conditions.”

Still, Waters suggested Trump could “perhaps” be “charged with obstruction of justice.”

And that charge, of course, could perhaps lead to impeachment.

Perhaps not. But as Waters already decisively pointed, Trump is a man who “lies every day” so even if the obstruction charge doesn’t stick, there’s always the liar, liar pants on fire charge.

“I’ve said all along that he would lead us to impeachment,” Waters said, of Trump. “And he’s doing just that. Every day, more and more is unfolding. I told you that I thought there was a Kremlin clan and these were his allies.”

A Kremlin clan?

Don’t interrupt; she’s on a roll.

“I had a resolution back in February that said it should be investigated for collusion,” Waters said, Breitbart reported. “Everything that I know, that I’ve been able to find out, if we do the investigations, the information is there. We’re fiddling while Rome is burning.”

Fiddling while Rome is burning, people!

“This president needs to be impeached,” she said. “I believe that. I believe there was collusion. We need to get on with the business of doing real investigations.”

Sigh. If I were a Democrat right now? That’d be my reaction. Waters, who long ago abandoned any pretense at being a constitutionally minded member of the legislative branch, is now rapidly moving into a realm of reality that doesn’t even allow her the title of useful idiot. Even for Democrats, she’s becoming a liability — becoming a tool for the right to showcase the nuttiness of the left.
