BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - More than 24,000 books and DVDs will be transferred to Bismarck State College after Gov. Doug Burgum vetoed a section of a bill that would have returned the materials to the authors and producers.

The Bismarck Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2pswJUo ) that the items are valued at $370,000. They were part of a $2.1 million sale to the state in 2015 of the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center in Washburn and the Dakota Institute.

Legislation passed this year would have transferred the published works and films to their authors and producers.

Burgum says the state can use the materials for additional revenue.
