LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) - State police are investigating the early-morning drowning death of a 20-year-old Lake Placid woman.

Saige Borden was one of three people in a canoe when it capsized along the eastern shore of Lake Placid shortly before 6 a.m. Friday. Troopers say she was rushed to Adirondack Medical Center in nearby Saranac Lake and pronounced dead just before noon.

According to the Adirondack Daily Enterprise , the victim was not wearing a life jacket and there were none in the canoe. The other two passengers in the craft made it safely to shore and suffered no injuries.

An autopsy is tentatively scheduled for Saturday at the hospital.
