PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island officials say 125 people may have committed a felony by listing addresses for the post office, UPS stores and other commercial buildings on their voter registrations.
The Providence Journal (https://bit.ly/2r1STfZ ) reports the state Board of Elections does not know how many of the people actually voted. Former third party gubernatorial candidate Ken Block created the list.
State law requires voters to list a home address on voter registration forms. The acting director of the Board of Elections says people could have been confused by the form asking for both residential and mailing addresses.
Of those 125, at least six were officers who registered to vote from the Providence police station’s address.
The police commissioner says he will investigate why that happened, and prosecute if there is a violation.
