SELMA, Ala. (AP) - The superintendent of Selma City Schools has been placed on administrative leave for breaching her contract.
The Selma Times-Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2q5J6o5) that Angela Mangum was suspended Tuesday after failing to notify the school board she was pursuing other employment opportunities.
School Board President Johnny Moss says the board found out Mangum was a finalist for the position of Pike Road Schools superintendent on Friday by media.
Mangum’s contract requires her to give the board three months’ notice or notify the school board president immediately after deciding to entertain opportunities outside the school district.
Mangum was hired in 2015 on a three-year deal. If the board terminates her employment, her contract stipulates she will not be owed compensation.
A public hearing will be held May 23 at Selma High School.
