Adults who loved Fred Rogers as children will soon have an opportunity to entertain their nostalgia with a 886-episode streaming marathon of his iconic show.
The social video platform Twitch will host every episode of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” on May 15 at 3 p.m. EST. The PBS classic, which first ran on U.S. airwaves in 1968, educated generations of Americans on what it means to be a good “neighbor.”
“We are incredibly excited to announce a series-long marathon of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,” the website’s promotional material reads. “All 886 episodes — including many episodes that have only aired once or are unavailable elsewhere online — will stream consecutively on twitch.tv/misterrogers.”
The website’s members will simultaneously encourage viewers to support their local PBS stations.
Mr. Rogers died at age 73, just three years after the final episode of his show was taped in the fall of 2000.
“Those of us in broadcasting have a special calling to give whatever we feel is the most nourishing that we can for our audience,” he said during the final episode, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported March 17, 2017. “We are servants of those who watch and listen.”
