Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov poked fun Wednesday at the Washington media frenzy over President Trump’s firing of FBI Director James B. Comey.

During a meeting with Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson at the State Department, reporters shouted questions at Mr. Tillerson and Mr. Lavrov about the firing on Tuesday.

“Was he fired?” Mr. Lavrov deadpanned.

“Yes,” a reporter answered.

“You are kidding. You are kidding,” Mr. Lavrov replied.

Mr. Tillerson ignored the questions, saying that he and Mr. Lavrov were continuing “our dialogue” on “a very broad range of topics.”

The Russian then went to the White House for an Oval Office meeting with President Trump, his first such meeting in four years.
