OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission has been told to move its employees out of the Will Rogers Building by Feb. 1, a move that could cost Oklahoma taxpayers millions of dollars.
The Oklahoman (https://bit.ly/2q2WGs4 ) reports that the Office of Management and Enterprise Services wants the space so it can consolidate its operations there.
Since the U.S. Department of Labor claims a nearly 50 percent equity interest in the building, the state would have to pay nearly half of the current value of the building if the security commission relocates. An appraisal would be needed to determine the value of the building.
Security commission officials estimate it could cost an additional $2 million to move their employees and that a new location would also likely mean higher lease costs.
