MILWAUKEE (AP) - The Latest on the workers’ rights, immigration rally in Milwaukee (all times local):

2 p.m.

A couple thousand demonstrators from around Wisconsin marched from Milwaukee’s predominantly Hispanic south side to the downtown courthouse, joining their counterparts around the country and world in a May Day support for labor and immigrant rights.

A light rain during the march turned into a downpour of sleet as demonstrators at the courthouse shouted “the people united can never be divided.” Some carried signs against President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. One read “Stop the Deportations.”

Participants who rode buses from Beloit, Whitewater, the Fox Valley, Racine and other cities around the state joined in the march and demonstration.

Although a smaller crowd gathered Monday afternoon, the scene was similar to a Feb. 13 march staged for similar reasons, including Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke’s plan to deputize local law enforcement officers as federal immigration agents.
