OPINION:
Stephen Hawking, physicist of the left — particularly because of his insistence there is no God but rather a Mother Nature that’s gone haywire from human-induced climate change — has just released his brainiac solution to so-called Mankind’s Biggest Threat, technology, and it can be summed in this simple, easy-to-remember phrase: “World government.”
OK. Let’s peel back the layers here and take a peek inside this atheist’s mind.
Hawking, who’s already placed the world on alert for its unsettling human tendency to overpopulate itself, foster climate change and spread around disease, now says technology is becoming the biggest threat to mankind. His view?
It. Must. Be. Controlled.
If not, it could destroy the human race, he said, in an interview with The Times.
How?
His words: “Since civilization began, aggression has been useful inasmuch as it has definite survival advantages. It is hard-wired into our genes by Darwinian evolution. Now, however, technology has advanced at such a pace that this aggression may destroy us all by nuclear or biological war. We need to control this inherited instinct by our logic and reason.”
He also said, as the Independent reported: “The real risk with AI [artificial intelligence] isn’t malice but competence. A super intelligent AI will be extremely good at accomplishing its goals and if those goals aren’t aligned with ours, we’re in trouble.”
He gave the example of a hydroelectric green energy project manager who needed to flood a certain area — despite the risk to ants.
“You’re probably not an evil ant-hater who steps on ants out of malice,” he said, the news outlet reported. But in such a face-off, he went on, who do you think is going to win?
With advances in AI, humanity could become the ants, he warned.
And his solution to save? Simply, “some form of world government,” Hawking said.
Ouch. That doesn’t play well with the whole America’s-a-sovereign-nation type of argument.
Founding Fathers might have a thing or two to say about all that, if any were alive today.
But here’s the thing with Hawking: He’s an admitted atheist. He doesn’t believe in God; he believes in the power of the mind. And while that’s fine and dandy on an individual scale, it’s not the DNA of our country.
Fact is America was built on the principles that our rights actually come from God — not government.
So Hawking’s press for world government? A complete conflict with America’s founding.
An utter face-slap to what sets the United States apart and above all other countries.
And a resounding reason to toss his clap-trap arguments for world government where they belong — in the trash, alongside any pieces of robotic junk that runs rogue on AI power.
