BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Actor Leonardo DiCaprio has invested in a Boulder food company that focuses on sustainable aquaculture.
The Daily Camera reports (https://bit.ly/2lHsZfU ) that LoveTheWild on Wednesday said that the actor was among the backers that helped fund their $3 million Series A investment. The Boulder company makes cook-it-yourself seafood kits sourced with sustainably raised fish.
DiCaprio will join the company’s advisory board. His financial contribution was not disclosed.
In a statement, DiCaprio praised LoveTheWild’s sustainable fishing practices.
The recent round of investing will help LoveTheWild, which currently offers a mix of wild-caught and farmed fish, to move toward sourcing 100 percent of its fish from aquaculture operations.
This is not the Oscar-winning actor’s first eco-investment. In May he invested in Runa, an organic, fair-trade tea company. He also has ties to electric car maker Fisker and waste management firm Rubicon Global.
