ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is no fan of the health care overhaul proposed by Republicans in the U.S. House.

The Democrat said Thursday that an analysis by state health officials shows the legislation would be devastating for the state, placing more than 1 million New Yorkers at risk of “significant” losses in health care coverage.

The estimates also indicate the bill would shift more than $4.5 billion in health care costs to state government, local governments and hospitals.

Cuomo says seniors and low-income New Yorkers are likely to feel the greatest impact.

He also criticized the bill for defunding Planned Parenthood and limiting access to abortion and reproductive health services.

Republicans in Washington introduced the bill, which they intend the replace the Affordable Care Act.
