WASHINGTON (AP) - The president of the Greater DC chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners says it seems that many members of her group will be working on Wednesday, when women have been encouraged to skip work for “A Day Without A Woman.”

Dana Hutson says the consensus of the 150-member group seemed to be that they are working Wednesday because others - including employees and customers - are counting on them.

Hutson, a health care consultant who is working Wednesday, acknowledged feeling conflicted about “A Day Without A Woman.” She said in a telephone interview that she is wearing red in support but the idea of leaving the workforce for a day felt like an angry protest. She says she would rather celebrate the progress women have made.
