SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - A woman has been fired from her job as director of a Pennsylvania halfway house following her arrest on charges of drug possession and driving under the influence.

The state Department of Corrections tells the (Scranton) Times-Tribune (https://bit.ly/2lXYBZD ) that 37-year-old Sherry Lee Arthur has been fired.

She ran the Community Education Centers in Scranton, which contract with the DOC to provide halfway house services for inmates who are being paroled.

She was arrested March 1 when police saw her car stopped at a green light and found her slurring her words and illegally possessing prescription painkillers and anti-anxiety medication.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Arthur, who faces a preliminary hearing Thursday.
