ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A New York man has been sentenced to nearly four years in federal prison for heroin trafficking in New Mexico.
Federal prosecutors say 49-year-old Edward Lewis of Brooklyn was sentenced Tuesday to a 46-month prison term followed by three years of supervised release.
Lewis was arrested last June on a criminal complaint charging him with a heroin trafficking offense.
Court documents state that a federal drug agent seized about 523 grams of heroin from Lewis at a bus station in Albuquerque.
Prosecutors say the heroin was concealed in a bundle inside Lewis’ pants.
According to the complaint, Lewis was to be paid to transport the heroin from Los Angeles to New York.
Prosecutors say Lewis pleaded guilty in January to a charge of possession of heroin with intent to distribute.
