The open society of the United States, and the freedoms that all Americans enjoy guaranteed by our Constitution, have always been an inviting target for undercover agents representing foreign governments and subversive movements. In the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s, this was clearly the case for Communist undercover agents from the Soviet Union.

They were most successful in penetrating our State Department, U.S. Treasury, the White House, the Office of Strategic Services (forerunner to CIA), and other government agencies, e.g., top-secret research laboratories as well as diplomatic posts throughout the world. The promotion of the Soviet Union’s objectives during World War II as well as during the postwar period was masterfully carried out by their agents and fellow travelers. Nothing was off limits, including Congress, our mainstream media and Hollywood.

To investigate Communist and fascist activity that had become active in the 1930s, the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) was formed in 1938. Fortunately, the committee was given subpoena power and wielded it effectively, compelling suspects to testify, thereby exposing Communist espionage. In his recent book “Hollywood Traitors,” author Allan H. Ryskind states that while HUAC was frequently maligned by the so-called sophisticated elite and “the East Coast establishment newspapers, like The New York Times and Washington Post,” the committee nonetheless won the support of the American people. While individual members of HUAC were at times brutally attacked, they did their job in the face of fierce opposition. It was not all that different from what President Trump has had to confront.

Today, we are still subjected to foreign subversive threats whose objective is to destroy our Constitution and way of life. In that sense, the current cabal of leftist progressive “elites” in Hollywood, with their Marxist roots, are alive and well. Their embrace of President Obama’s goal to fundamentally change America, an agenda which has now been proven to be both un-American and anti-Western, says it all. Compounding the Hollywood problem is the current effort by a variety of Chinese companies conducting major acquisitions, such as the $3.5 billion takeover of Legendary Entertainment in 2016. In January, there was a Chinese financing infusion of $1 billion into Paramount Pictures. To ignore the propaganda value of these Hollywood acquisitions would be more than foolish.

Separately, the penetration of our national security and intelligence agencies — including the Department of Defense, the White House and Congress — by the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) and its front groups, the Council on American — Islamic Relations, the Islamic Society of North America, et al., has gone on for years. It started in the late 1960s but was greatly accelerated during the Obama administration. For example, in 2016, the White House appointed Zaki Barzinji, the grandson of Jamal Barzinji, the founder of the U.S. MB organization, as the new liaison to the American-Muslim community under the White House Office of Public Engagement.

Jamal Barzinji also played a key role in the founding development of the Muslim Student Association that now has chapters at more than 800 colleges and universities. He helped spread Islamic terrorism throughout the world, while also founding key MB organizations, including the North American Islamic Trust and the Islamic Society of North America.

The Obama administration invited other MB members to serve as important advisers, including Mohamed Magid, iman of Northern Virginia’s All Dulles Area Muslim Society, who was from 2010 to 2014 president of the Islamic Society of North America. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano appointed Mr. Magid to the department’s Countering Violent Extremism Working Group. Mr. Obama’s National Security Council interacted frequently with Mr. Magid. Huma Abedin, Hillary Clinton’s deputy chief of staff when she was secretary of State, qualifies as the MB poster girl. The list of MB associates appointed by Mr. Obama to key positions is extensive. Many are still deeply embedded in key positions, even with a new administration.

Congress is also reportedly a fertile ground for penetration. Author and filmmaker Trevor Loudon now counts the number of Marxists in Congress at more than 50. Recently there was a major security breach uncovered in Congress. Three Pakistani information technology technicians, Amran Awan and his two brothers, Jamal and Ahid, were all at the center of an investigation regarding illegal access to classified information and have been barred from any further office work in the House of Representatives. They should have been taken into custody and all their personal IT equipment confiscated.

The brothers managed office information technology for three members of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence as well as for five members of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. Other committees they worked for included the House Armed Services Committee and the Homeland Security Committee’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection Subcommittee. All told, the brothers were clients of some 50 House members, and each brother has reportedly received more than $1 million in compensation. The sensitivity of the information that they had access to is shocking as it involved highly classified intelligence information as well as possibly ongoing special-ops military operations.

The deep penetration of our government at the highest levels by the Muslim Brotherhood and other subversives must be exposed. In order to expose these agents, a special House committee on protecting our Constitution, with subpoena power, must be formed to investigate subversive infiltration of our government agencies, including the White House, Congress and Hollywood. There will be great opposition to the formation of such a committee with cries of “McCarthyism.” However, as M. Stanton Evans proved in his great book “Blacklisted by History,” Sen. Joe McCarthy was basically right.
