TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - Jonathan Williams scored 18 points, Luke Knapke and Jaelan Sanford each scored 12, Steve Taylor Jr. had 10 rebounds and Toledo pulled away in the second half to beat Bowling Green 77-62 in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament Monday night.
Toledo (17-15) advanced to play No. 2-seed Ohio (19-10) on Thursday.
Toledo led 32-28 at the half. Rodrick Caldwell’s 3 brought the Falcons within 40-36 before the Rockets made a 13-4 run and led by 13 with 11:29 to go.
Later, Williams buried a 3 with 4:22 left and the score was 71-45. Toledo distributed 18 assists on its 25 made field goals. Bowling Green made 23 shots from the floor, but the Rockets outscored Bowling Green from the 3-point line 24-12.
Wes Alcegaire led Bowling Green (13-19) with 17 points and Demajeo Wiggins scored 10 for the Falcons, which lost its third straight and sixth out of its last eight.
