HAMILTON, N.J. (AP) - A longtime New Jersey official who served governors of both parties has been memorialized.

Republican Gov. Chris Christie was among those who attended the event for Jamie Fox in Hamilton Township Monday. The 62-year-old died Feb. 20 after a long battle with kidney disease.

Fox was a lobbyist for Chicago-based United Airlines accused of conspiracy in an alleged shakedown of the airline along with the former chairman of the agency that controls New York City-area airports. David Samson was sentenced to home confinement and probation in that case around the same time Monday.

Fox had pleaded not guilty and vowed to fight the allegations.

Fox was a Democrat who held numerous governmental posts during his career. He served as transportation commissioner for the Republican Christie and Democratic Gov. Jim McGreevey.
