ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) - Fire officials say one person is dead and another is critically injured after a house fire in Arlington.
Media outlets report that the fire broke out on South Grant Street on Sunday night and firefighters found fire and smoke coming out of all floors.
Arlington Fire Department spokeswoman Sarah-Maria Marchegiani says one person died at the scene and the second was taken to Virginia Hospital Center in critical condition. She says “hoarding conditions” delayed firefighters’ efforts to get inside the home to reach the fire.
Marchegiani says investigators have not yet found a cause of the fire. Officials did not give the names and ages of the victims, pending the notification of their families.
