HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a student on Long Island has been arrested and charged with a weapons offense after he posted a video showing three handguns and indicated he’d bring one to school.
Officials at Baldwin High School told Nassau County Police Thursday that 20-year-old Shamari Gerrow, of Baldwin, had posted the message and video on Snapchat.
Police say Gerrow fled when he saw officers. Shortly before being apprehended, he was seen throwing a black handgun in to a shopping center dumpster. A black air powered pistol was recovered.
Gerrow is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school grounds and making a terroristic threat. He’s to be arraigned Friday in Hempstead District Court. It was not immediately known if he’s represented by a lawyer.
