CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Plans to drill subsurface oil and gas wells under a Cheyenne neighborhood have stalled.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/2opkuDZ ) that Oklahoma-based Ward Petroleum has withdrawn its applications seeking approval for horizontal drilling on the city’s eastern boundary.

Ward Petroleum Regulatory and Community Relations Manager Dave Brown says the company needs to do some additional planning before proceeding with the proposal.

The setback comes a week after Ward Petroleum held a meeting to hear public comment from residents in the affected neighborhood. Many residents spoke out against the proposal.
