PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Providence man serving two consecutive life sentences for the fatal shooting of a gang rival is now charged with killing another rival in 2007 outside a nightclub.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2onLzqK ) the grand jury on Wednesday indicted 27-year-old Bruce Moten in the stabbing death of 18-year-old Darren Reagans Jr.

Jayquan Garlington was also indicted in the slaying. Both men pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and conspiracy.

Maj. David Lapatin says the indictment is the first to come out of the Providence Police Department’s new cold case unit.

Moten had been charged in Reagan’s death within weeks of the slaying. The case didn’t make it to a grand jury.

Moten is serving life for a 2014 shooting that left 22-year-old Terry Robinson dead and another man injured.
