MANCHESTER, England (AP) - American stars Carli Lloyd and Alex Morgan have set up a meeting in the semifinals of the Women’s Champions League, just weeks into their first playing stints in European soccer.
Lloyd’s Manchester City beat Fortuna Hjorring 1-0 on Thursday to seal a 2-0 aggregate win in their quarterfinal.
City, the English champion, advanced to a semifinal against French side Lyon, which is led by U.S. striker Morgan. Lyon ousted Wolfsburg in the last eight.
The semifinals are played over two legs in April.
Lyon is the defending champion.
Lloyd and Morgan are among the American players to have taken advantage of a gap in the U.S. schedule to secure short-term moves to European clubs this season.
