Rep. Justin Amash rebuked President Trump’s criticism of the House Freedom Caucus by suggesting the Republican has been brainwashed by the Washington establishment.
“It didn’t take long for the swamp to drain @realDonaldTrump,” Mr. Amash, Michigan Republican and member of the Freedom Caucus, said on Twitter. “No shame, Mr. President. Almost everyone succumbs to the D.C. Establishment.”
Mr. Trump has criticized members of the House Freedom Caucus in a series of tweets over their resistance to the health care bill that he and House Speaker Paul Ryan tried to push through the House, but could not pass thanks to opposition on both their left and right flanks.
Mr. Trump hit the group again Thursday.
“The Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire Republican agenda if they don’t get on the team, & fast. We must fight them, & Dems, in 2018!” he said.
