CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - State education officials are reviewing Wyoming’s math standards for students and could decide to make some changes in the next year or two.
The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reported (https://bit.ly/2nCi0n3) Wednesday that the Wyoming Department of Education and the State Board of Education have started looking over the state’s mathematics Content and Performance Standards.
The department’s Laurie Hernandez says they are seeking educators, parents, business professionals and other volunteers to participate in the review committee.
Hernandez says the committee will have several options for addressing the standards, including adopting an entirely new set of standards, adding in math standards from other states or keeping the standards the same.
The committee is accepting public comment on the standards and should make their decision in about a year.
