The latest trailer for former Vice President Al Gore’s documentary “An Inconvenient Sequel” frames President Trump as a villain opposed to “Mother Nature.”

Filmmaker Davis Guggenheim scored a financial hit in 2006 with “An Inconvenient Truth,” which followed Mr. Gore around as he sounded the alarm on global warming. Mr. Gore and Paramount Pictures have now paired with directors Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk for a sequel with Mr. Trump cast as an environmental foil.

A “Truth to Power” trailer released Tuesday shows Mr. Trump joking before an audience about cold weather on a day that was supposed to be 70 degrees, and another speech where he vows to cancel “billions in climate-change spending.”

“The next generation would be justified in looking back at ask and asking, ’What were you thinking? Couldn’t you hear what the scientists were saying? Couldn’t you hear what Mother Nature was screaming at you?’ Mr. Gore says at the trailer’s narrator. “It is right to save humanity! It is wrong to pollute this earth. It is right to give hope to the future generation. Don’t let anyone tell you we’re gonna get on rocket ships and live on Mars. This is our home.”

Mr. Gore’s first foray into climate-change documentaries captured nearly $50 million in worldwide sales. “An Inconvenient Sequel” is scheduled to debut July 28.
