Danny Masterson, who played Hyde on the FOX television network’s sitcom “That ’70s Show,” is the subject of new sexual assault allegations, People magazine reported Friday.

“Three women have come forward and disclosed that they were sexually assaulted by Masterson during the early 2000’s,” a Los Angeles Police Department official said in a statement, People reported.

One of the women apparently came forward thanks in part to the work of Leah Remini, an actress and former member of the Church of Scientology who has produced a documentary critical of the religious group.

Mr. Masterson is a practicing Scientologist and the three women who allege sexual misconduct are also reportedly current or former members of the Church. The 40-year-old co-star of Netflix’s “The Ranch” denies the allegations and, through an agent, suggested one of them is a spurned former lover.

“When Danny ended the relationship she continued to pursue him … In fact, we are informed by the Church that the only demand [redacted] made of the Church after Danny broke up with her was asking for their help to intervene so the breakup would not be permanent,” reads the statement by a Masterson representative, People reported.
