INDIANAPOLIS - Could the Redskins saga with Kirk Cousins end with Tony Romo in Washington?
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday that a potential three-way trade involving Cousins, the San Francisco 49ers and Romo’s Cowboys has been floated in discussions between Washington and San Francisco.
“As #Redskins & #49ers discuss a potential deal for QB Kirk Cousins in the near future, I’m told they may include the #Cowboys (Romo) as well,” Rapoport wrote on his Twitter account.
“Play a potential and unprecedented three-way deal forward… #49ers inquire about Cousins. #Redskins talk about Tony Romo. #Cowboys get picks,” Rapoport also tweeted.
Rapoport gave no indication that a deal was likely, but Romo swapping teams within division would certainly be a dramatic ending befitting the entire Cousins contract melodrama.
