STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says its agents are investigating after a badly burned body was discovered at the scene of an early morning fire in rural Payne County.
Investigators say firefighters were called to the scene of the fire at about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday. After extinguishing the flames, firefighters discovered charred human remains and contacted the Payne County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s deputies have asked the OSBI for its assistance in identifying the victim and the agency’s investigators are collecting evidence at the scene. The OSBI described the case as a homicide.
Investigators say they need to determine the man’s identity to establish a starting point in the case.
