NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities in New York City have arrested a truck driver who they say drove drunk and caused a fatal accident.

Police say the accident happened on the Cross Bronx Expressway around 2:30 a.m. Monday. Investigators say a 23-year-old man was operating a tractor-trailer when he crashed into a car carrying three people and fled the scene.

Police say two women were rushed to area hospitals and are expected to recover. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police say they found the truck driver at a rest top in Ridgefield, New Jersey, and arrested him.

The suspect faces several charges in New Jersey including driving under the influence. Charges are pending in New York.
