YUMA, Ariz. (AP) - A small SUV belonging to a Yuma man reported missing last June has been found in a canal outside the southwestern Arizona city.
Yuma County sheriff’s spokesman Alfonso Zavala says no body was found inside the Suzuki Samari belonging to 56-year-old John Burkett when it was removed Monday from the Gila Gravity Canal.
Zavala says authorities don’t know how the pink and gray camouflaged vehicle ended up in the canal and that Burkett remains missing.
The SUV was spotted in the canal late Sunday.
The Sheriff’s Office says Burkett was reported missing June 25 after he left work but did not arrive there.
