Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina is “very happy” with President Trump’s promise to give the military the tools it needs to “win.”

The Republican lawmaker also hailed the freedom Mr. Trump has given to Pentagon officials.

Mr. Graham said he is pleased that Mr. Trump has moved away from the way President Obama micromanaged military officials.

“From a war fighter’s point of view this is great news,” the he said. “President Trump says I have got good generals, he is going to let them be generals.”

Mr. Graham said it marks a major difference from the Obama administration, which would “have national security council meetings over whether or not you could deploy two helicopters.”
