AULANDER, N.C. (AP) - The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting authorities in Bertie County after two bodies were found inside the remains of a home that caught fire.

WITN-TV in Greenville reports (https://bit.ly/2ovC3kY) Bertie County Sheriff John Holley said firefighters were alerted around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday to a fire at a two-story home. When firefighters reached the scene east of Lewiston Woodville, they found a house and two other buildings on fire.

Holley said deputies were called 30 minutes later after the two bodies were discovered inside. The sheriff said his department is awaiting pathology reports to determine the cause of death. The victims’ identities haven’t been released.
