SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Police say the death of a 34-year-old West Valley City man whose body was found during the weekend in the Jordan River is being investigated as suspicious.

West Valley City police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku told the Salt Lake Tribune (https://bit.ly/2ocQ7QP ) that officers discovered the partially submerged body of Anthony Payne on Sunday morning after a TRAX rail passenger noticed it in the water.

The state medical examiner’s office did not immediately release a cause death.

Police say there were no obvious signs of foul play, but that the death is being investigated as suspicious because of the circumstances of the discovery and the location.
