TAKOMA PARK, Md. (AP) - Officials say a fire that broke out at an apartment complex in a D.C. suburb is arson-related.
It started Sunday afternoon at the Hillwood Manor apartments in Takoma Park, Maryland.
Montgomery County Fire spokesman Pete Piringer says one person, who was hospitalized, is being interviewed. That person’s name was not released, pending charges.
No one else was hurt.
Officials say arriving firefighters found heavy fire and smoke coming from the first floor of the complex.
Piringer says five people were trapped on the second floor but were rescued using a ladder. Two people were displaced.
Piringer says the damage is estimated to be about $20,000.
