PHOENIX (AP) - The American Bar Association has put an Arizona law school on probation in part because of the school’s low passage rates on the bar exam.
The Arizona Republic reports (https://bit.ly/2o7AzRI ) that Arizona Summit Law School has seen bar-passage rates plummet in recent years to as low as 25 percent for those taking the test for the first time.
In a letter on Monday, the Bar Association said that Summit is out of compliance regarding admission practices, academic standards and support and bar passage.
The American Bar Association has directed the school, which is owned by for-profit company InfiLaw Corp., to develop an improvement plan by May 15. The association will review the school’s progress in November.
Arizona Summit Law President Donald Lively said Monday that the school will take steps to comply with the association’s standards.
