The Washington Capitals earned their franchise-record 31st home win of the season Saturday with a 4-1 victory over the Arizona Coyotes, passing the previous mark of 30 set in 1986 and 2010.

The Capitals lead the NHL in home wins and have earned a point in 25 of their last 27 home games. They are 23-2-2 in that span.

The Capitals have sold out 355 consecutive games at the Verizon Center.

Alex Ovechkin notched his 30th goal of the season Saturday, marking the 12th straight season he has reached the 30-goal plateau. He is the third player in league history to score 30 or more goals in each of his first 12 seasons, joining Mark Gartner and Wayne Gretzky.

Brayden Holtby was solid in net once again, earning his franchise-record 26th home win of the season. The win breaks the previous record set by Olie Kolzig in 2000 and himself last season.

With his 39th win overall, Holtby now sits one win shy of becoming the third goaltender in NHL history to record three straight 40 win seasons, joining Martin Brodeur (2005-08) and Evgeni Nabokov (2007-10).

The Capitals will travel to face the Minnesota Wild Tuesday night.
