BOSTON (AP) - A conservation group that owns dozens of Massachusetts parks and beaches plans to create a new “jaw-dropping” park along Boston Harbor.
The Boston Globe reports (https://bit.ly/2o6GkMb ) that the nonprofit Trustees of Reservations is considering five sites for a new park and plans to release design concepts this spring.
Areas that are being scouted include the Seaport, Fort Point and East Boston neighborhoods.
Barbara Erickson, the nonprofit’s chief executive, told The Globe that her group is a great land manager but lacks “really jaw-dropping landscapes that are publicly accessible in Boston.”
The group has existed for more than a century and owns about 27,000 acres of property in Massachusetts, including Crane Beach in Ipswich.
No price has been set, but the project is expected to cost tens of millions of dollars.
