FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The faculty at Kentucky State University has voted to express no confidence in the school’s Board of Regents.

Media report the faculty voted 39-36 this week to express no confidence in the full board and voted 50-30 to express no confidence in Board of Regents Chair Karen Bearden.

The conflict stems from a variety of factors including the search for a new president, which ended earlier this month when the board selected M. Christopher Brown. Faculty members previously complained that the search was not transparent.

A statement from the Board of Regents says officials will use the vote as a catalyst for change and want to “work together to bring forth a season of healing.”

Interim President Aaron Thompson said in a statement Friday that faculty, students, staff, regents and others connected to the university “must come together” for the good of the university.
