NEW YORK (AP) - A former executive at Coach USA has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for attempting to conceal and destroy documents relevant to a civil antitrust investigation in New York.
Ralph Groen, of North Carolina, was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to corruptly obstructing, influencing and impeding a civil antitrust investigation.
Federal prosecutors say the former vice president of information technology at the bus company directed subordinates to conceal and destroy end-of-month backup tapes containing emails. They say he also provided false and misleading information.
The civil case relates to the New York City hop-on, hop-off tour bus market and challenged Coach’s and City Sights LLC’s formation of the Twin America LLC joint venture in 2009.
In 2015, a final judgment required Coach and City Sights to pay $7.5 million.
