DENVER (AP) - A Colorado suspect has been accused of pouring gasoline on a man who was sleeping in his pickup truck in Canon City when he caught fire.

The Denver Post reports (https://dpo.st/2o2QAnX) 34-year-old Michael Scarvada was arrested without incident Sunday for investigation of assault, arson and other charges.

The victim, Jason Crowder, was critically injured and taken to a burn center for treatment. An update on his condition has not been released.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says Scarvada admitted to pouring gasoline on Crowder because he was angry that the victim told his girlfriend he had cheated on her.

Court documents say Scarvada said the victim may have had an electric heater in the truck, which lit the gasoline.

Scarvada told investigators he tried to help put out the flames before fleeing.
