Roger Stone, a longtime confidant of President Trump, on Tuesday denied colluding with Russia during last year’s campaign, a day after his name was brought up multiple times at a House intelligence committee hearing.
Mr. Stone said he has not talked to the FBI, but said he assumes he’s been under some sort of surveillance for some time.
“What probable cause there is or what evidence would dictate that, I don’t know,” he said on “CBS This Morning.”
He said the Senate intelligence committee has sent him a letter asking him to preserve documents and that he’s doing so.
Mr. Stone said his past Twitter exchange with “Guccifer 2.0,” a suspected hacker tied to last year’s Democratic National Committee breach, was “entirely benign.”
“Let me have my day in court,” Mr. Stone said.
FBI Director James B. Comey said during Monday’s hearing that he didn’t have any information to support Mr. Trump’s claims from several weeks ago that former President Obama had Trump Tower wiretapped during the height of the 2016 campaign.
Mr. Stone nevertheless said it is “certainly possible” that Trump Tower was under surveillance.
