SAN DIEGO (AP) - San Diego police have arrested a man they say stole a medical van with two patients inside.

The San Diego Union-Tribune (https://bit.ly/2naNMrb ) says the shuttle van was left outside Scripps Mercy Hospital Monday evening while the driver took a patient inside.

The car thief used that opportunity to jump in and take off.

Police say the crook was trying to drop off two remaining patients at an intersection five blocks away when he was spotted and arrested.

The 31-year-old man was booked on suspicion of motor vehicle theft, kidnapping, elder abuse and driving under the influence.
